Why is Organic Traffic Important and How Does it Compare with Ads and Other Strategies?
A study showed that organic traffic drives 53% of all website visits compared to 27% from paid search (ads) and 15% from social media. But from an entrepreneur’s point of view, we also need to look at the financial implications.
We saw that businesses investing in organic traffic generation typically see a 5.7x return on investment compared to 2.9x for paid advertising. Our work with clients across industries consistently shows that organic traffic visitors spend 2.4x longer on sites and have a 23% higher conversion rate than visitors from paid channels.

Another great thing about the strategies that bring you organic traffic is that they continue bringing visitors months and years after content publication. Instead, ads for an e.g. Stop bringing in traffic the moment you pause your budget.
This was evident in our recent work with a tech client, where a single well-optimized blog post generated over 50,000 visits in its second year, without any additional investment. How to Increase Organic Traffic to Your Website?
When we think of how to increase organic monthly traffic, we often forget that we can just tweak a few things that will help our business flourish. But, we need to know exactly what we need to do, and this is something most newbies struggle with.
They often get really into their idea (which, don’t get me wrong, is amazing and that’s how it should be) that they forget to do proper research and often don’t know how to increase organic website traffic.
No worries, if you’re in the same situation, which you probably are in if this blog found you, then stay with us because now we’ll show you 15 strategies that actually work and will help you attract your perfect clientele.
Step 1: Create a Comprehensive Keyword Research Spreadsheet
The first thing we need to do is to focus on keyword research. Without proper keyword research, you will most likely not attract possible clients. Let’s take this story as an example.
Sarah started her online business journey by discovering her client’s language. She owns a small soap shop, and during her keyword research for her website, she found that while “handmade soap” had high competition, long-tail variations like “lavender goat milk soap benefits” had substantial search volume with lower competition.
So, she picked her keywords wisely, and now Sarah’s business is climbing the Google ladder.

- Find keywords that specify what you sell and are easy to rank for, aka have low keyword difficulty (I recommend to focus on long-tail keywords with clear user intent)

A manufacturing client’s organic traffic stagnated despite quality content. During our audit, we uncovered technical issues, such as:
- Site speed averaged 6.2 seconds
- Mobile responsiveness scored 62/100
- Broken internal links exceeded 200
- XML sitemap contained errors
Why is that?
Statistics indicate that 40% of people will leave your website if it takes longer than 3 seconds to load. And as we can see from our manufacturing client, they’ve got an astonishing 6.2 seconds speed before we started working with them. A slow site is a big no-no in 2025, but also in the future, because people want a lot of things to be happening in front of them in the shortest amount of time.
Another thing is mobile responsiveness. Over 61.5% of traffic comes from mobile users, and if your website is not optimized for it, your brand will most likely flop. No one likes to see a buggy, slow and non functional website. That’s why you should focus on having a good mobile responsive website.
If you checked these boxes as done, then let’s go onto the next thing – broken internal links. This is not as crucial for the users as it is for the search engines. When search engines crawl websites, they use links to discover content and assess authority. Each link acts as a vote of confidence, transferring ranking signals through metrics like PageRank and anchor text relevance.
The problem comes up when these links lead to nowhere. A 404 error occurs when a link points to a non-existent page, effectively cutting off the flow of these ranking signals. Our analysis of over 100 websites revealed that this happens through two main channels:
First, external websites may create malformed links to your content. This often occurs through typos, incorrect URL structures, or outdated parameters in the link address. Second, and more commonly, websites break their own links through internal changes – removing pages without proper redirects or restructuring content without updating internal links.
This issue tends to build up over time. In our recent technical audit for a tech client, we discovered over 300 broken links, each representing lost ranking potential. Large websites often accumulate thousands of broken links, particularly those with extensive content archives or frequent site updates.
However, if you fix broken links, websites can recapture lost ranking signals and improve their search engine visibility. To avoid this from happening, make sure to do regular link audits to help identify these issues before they impact your site’s performance in search results.
And the last error that we found was that the XML sitemap contained errors. This is again, not so important for the users, as it is for the search engines. If a search engine doesn’t have a proper view of your whole website, it can miss the important url that you want to index, or it can de-index most of your content as it doesn’t see it anymore.
After fixing all of these issues, organic traffic increased by 156% within three months.

Step 4: Implement Strategic Internal Linking
If you’re starting from the beginning, your website can resemble a maze. That’s why we usually implement a model where:
- Main category pages link to related products
- Blog posts connect to relevant product pages
- Related content suggestions appear naturally
- Navigation follows user behavior patterns
This restructuring can lead to a 67% increase in pages per session if done correctly. Make sure to check for broken links while doing this, it will save you some time and why not link to newer content that hasn’t been linked to since.
Step 5: Create Topic Clusters
When creating a content strategy for your blog, you need to create topic clusters. You need to define clear pillars and clusters. This will show Google that your content is connected to each other and it will most likely be interlinked (if done correctly), which means that the readers will spend more time on your blog since they want to know more about this theme that you decided to write about.

A secret sauce many SEO people don’t talk about is the importance of backlinks. Backlinks are really important for the authority of your website, the more people talk about you (on their blogs), the more Google trusts you.
However, it is important to note that it really matters which websites are linking to you. If low quality backlinks are pointing to you, this could also affect your ranking in a negative way. Instead of ranking higher, you could rank lower.
This can happen from you buying potentially bad backlinks, or someone having a planned attack on your website (this most often happens because you’re their competitor and they want to outrank you).
But if you want to get the good backlinks, you can do so in a few steps, and if you have the time and patience to do so, you can even get good backlinks for free.
If you want to buy them, then make sure to check the authority of the links on Semrush, Ahrefs or other websites.
If you want to get them for free, then you will need to send requests to blogs with a similar theme to yours, you can contribute as an expert in your field in some industry publications, or participate in relevant podcast interviews.
Another way you can do this is by creating a shareable infographic that people will want to link to. So every time someone writes about the niche of your infographic, they will want to put it in their blog and link to it.
Step 8: Create Different Types of Content
There is no universal way of doing things, and the same thing goes for blogs. So, if you want to learn how to increase organic traffic to your blog, you will need to follow these strategies.
Yes, you can write informational blogs, but it is nice to spice it up with a couple of things. As an example, take that we are talking about a tech company, and they are selling laptops. We will first probably write about a general thing to bring awareness to us. E.g. We can write about the best laptops in 2025, how to install a mic to your Asus Vivobook laptop or things like that.
Alongside that, we will probably want to help the reader decide which laptop he wants to buy. So we will write about the best laptop for students, how to choose which laptop to buy next or etc.
Or we can make the user consider different options, so we will write about Apple Macbook Air m3 VS ASUS vivobook s15, or an Apple Macbook Air m3 review. You can really be creative in this field.
Another thing you could write about is the post-purchase usage tips and maintenance guides. This will help the user understand how your device works, and what they need to do in order to fix some things, like updating audio drivers or similar things.

Step 9: Optimize for Local Search
If you have the opportunity and are selling something on a local scale, then local optimization will do wonders for your business.
Local SEO can be really easy, you just need to:
- Create location-specific landing pages
- Optimize Google Business profiles
- Generate local citations and reviews
- Develop location-based content
This really easy strategy can be done in a couple months if you’re doing it by yourself, or even less if your SEO has been done by an agency. This strategy is most often implemented by dentists, home care agencies, photographers, cleaning companies, and many others.
Step 10: Implement Schema Markup
Back in 2019, we worked with a local cleaning company whose organic listings blended into the search results. Their services sat buried on page two, lacking the visual appeal that would make potential clients click on them.
Schema markup tells search engines exactly what your content means, not just what it says. For the cleaning company, we implemented a schema that highlighted their ratings from 250+ customer reviews and base price ranges for their services.
The results were amazing. Within three months, their search listings sprouted rich snippets showing their 4.8-star rating. Their services started appearing in Google’s cleaning companies near me, and local customers could now see if they were open and their phone number without clicking through.
